Grade 3 - Air, Water and Weather - 29 February 2016

Two experiments were conducted to observe condensation and presence of water vapour in the air. In the first experiment, a student was asked to breath out onto a mirror and a film of moisture appeared on its surface. This happened because the warm air which was exhaled had water vapour in it. This cooled down when it came in contact with the cold surface of the mirror.
In the second experiment, a cold glass of water with ice was kept for observation. The students observed the water droplets on the outer surface of the glass which was due to the water vapour present in the air. These activities made them understand the presence of water vapour in the air.
