Grade 2 Science Activity

Grade 2 Science Activity Plants Around Us- Parts of Plant

Students assemble different parts of a plant with cutouts of the same. They enthusiastically formed the plant using these cutouts. This activity enabled them to differentiate the different parts of a plant sequentially. Students enjoyed this activity.

Purple Day – and Srkg– 11th January'2016

Children were dressed in Purple Colour clothes. Teacher showed them purple colour and many other purple objects. They had a good time together.

Puppet Show- Pre-primary– Emergency Vehicles – 13th January'2016

Teachers did a puppet show with the help of the story of two friends in which they explained why and when emergency vehicles are used. Kids enjoyed learning about it and answered all the question asked by the puppets during the show.

Parent performed for the Republic Day celebration. They sang patriotic song and some parents danced on Patriotic song. Kids really enjoyed seeing their parent’s performance.

RE – LIVE – 23rd January, 2016

The event Relive was made a grand success by the parents and the students of Rustomjee Cambridge International School ,Thane. The event started with various competitions – relay, skipping, tug of war and throw ball amongst parents. 
The parents displayed full enthusiasm and team spirit while playing the games which they had once played during their childhood days. In addition to these, various other games – cup o castle, hopscotch, ball in a bucket, lock and key, bursting the balloon, dart, lemon and spoon etc. were conducted. Various sessions were also conducted throughout the 
event like – Zumba where they danced their way to fitness, Yoga, Meditation, Body Fat analysis, Health, Eye and Dental Checkup . Organic food, Vegan Food etc. Senior citizens also had separate sessions – laughter club, chess, solving puzzles, table tennis etc. Relive thus turned out to be a platform where the parents and the grandparents  could revisit their childhood games and  also get information about a holistic lifestyle.

Grade 4 - English Limerick - 19th January, 2016

The students had to pick up 1 chit each and they had to write a limerick poem based on the following topic which they received. It was a fun activity and the kids created humorous limericks.

Cs blog-Grade 1 & 2-Makar Sankranti -15th January’2016

 The students were shown a video on Makar Sankranti and discussed its traditional and cultural ways of celebrating it.The students also enjoyed  the  Kite bookmark Activity and took away it as a momentum.

Sr kg – Show and tell - A short story using blends- 15th January, 2016

Kids spoke about different creative story. They expressed themselves in a form of story using blends. All of them enjoyed sharing their story.

Grade 4-Science-Simple machines-13th January 2016

The students were shown few tools/simple machines which has either a lever, pulley, inclined plane, wheel and axle and screw. The students were also taken around the school and teacher showed them different machines and they had to identify which tool is used for its operation. e.g. door hinge, flag pole, ramp and cycle. The students easily identified the type of machines used in these objects.

Grade 1 to 6- Creative cooking-Chocolate making-8th January 2016

"Chocolate is the answer, no matter what the question is" 

The students were shown how to make chocolates easily at home. A teacher demonstrated the entire procedure of chocolate making right from melting chocolate compounds till wrapping it in beautiful wrappers. The students enjoyed the activity and also participated in making chocolates. They were delighted to see how the chocolates turned out so well. The students were also given chocolates as a take away.

Grade 2 - Science-Show and tell activity (Lesson Water) – 7th January, 2016

The students had to bring a picture of' Water Pollution’; they had to speak about few measures to prevent water pollution. Students learned the importance of water and the measures to prevent water pollution. They also learnt the causes of water pollution and significance of preventing water pollution and its preservation.

Grade 4 – Science - Force activities-6th January, 2016

To explain the concept of force 2 activities were demonstrated. 
1) Rubber band toy: A rubber band toy was made using plastic bottle and rubber band; the students understood that the force from rubber band ejects the ball upwards. More the force applied to the rubber band the ball reaches more height.

2) Force of friction: To explain the concept of frictional force exerted by various surfaces an activity was demonstrated. The students understood that the car slides faster on a tin sheet and slower on a cloth. The students concluded that cloth exerts more friction.

Grade 4 - Science-Show & Tell - 5th January, 2016

The students were given topics related to chapter Types of animals and their adaptations. The students prepared colorful charts to explain topics like Hibernation, Aestivation, Protection for animals in Puffer fish and Sting ray. The students gave interesting facts about these animals as to how they adapt to their natural surroundings.

Grade 3 - Light and Sound – 5th January 2016

The concept of formation of shadow was explained to the students with the help of pencil, white paper and flashlight. The students understood that a shadow is formed when an opaque object blocks the path of the light. They observed that the shadow is always formed on the opposite side of the light.

Pre-Primary - Field Trip to Nursery – 8th January, 2016

Students visited a nearby nursery wherein they got information about different types of plants. They were explained the medicinal value of Adulsa, Shendri, Eucalyptus, Brahmi etc. It was amazing to see the curiosity of the kids by asking various questions.
